Pre session makeovers with Katie Proctor Makeup Artist - Cobham Photography Studio

I always love to give the option of professional makeup with all my photo sessions and when Katie Proctor, professional makeup artist offered to give me a makeover I jumped at the chance.

It was really interesting to see for myself exactly how she works.  We had so much fun and I can honestly say I loved my makeup!

Katie really made me feel at ease and she always made sure I felt 100% confident with the makeup she applied.  I can’t remember the last time I sat down for an hour totally to myself.  It was such a relaxing experience…oh and we filmed for you all to see too!  (coming soon)

I also asked Katie a few questions:

Katie, tell us a bit about yourself

I’m Katie, mummy, wife and professional makeup artist.  I love makeup and I channel my creativity through my work. My job fits around my children and I love it. Helping women to feel and look amazing is what I love to do!

Why is it important to have your makeup done before a shoot?

Firstly because it gives you a chance to sit down and relax before Becky starts photographing.  Secondly, I’m able to use my knowledge and skills to make sure all of your features are defined which is really important when being photographed.  Lastly you’ll feel amazing which really helps with your confidence to be in front of the camera.

Where will you do my makeup?

If you’re having an outdoor shoot, I can either come to you or you can come to me (whatever you feel will be more relaxing).  If you’re having a photo shoot at Becky’s studio, I will meet you there an hour before the shoot.

I don’t usually wear any makeup, what will I look like?

You will look like you but with more definition. I’ll concentrate on giving you a flawless base and I will subtly define your features to enable the camera to really pick up the definition.

One of the reasons I came to be a makeup artist is because every time someone else did my makeup, I never liked it as much as when I did my own.  I’ve made it my mission that everyone that sits in my makeup chair will look and feel amazing.  I promise you’ll love it.  You’ll still look and feel like you but your defined features will really accentuate your beauty on camera.   I will email you prior to the session to find out what sort of make up look(s) you like and I will ensure you feel 100% at ease before we start.

Should I have any makeup or moisturiser on before?

Arrive with a freshly cleansed and moisturised face, that’s it! I’ll do the rest.

What do I need to bring?

Anything you like or nothing at all! If you have products in your makeup bag that you love then of course bring them along and I’ll use them if you’d like me to, for example a favourite lipstick colour/foundation shade etc.

Which brands do you use?

My makeup kit is huge and made up of so many different brands.  I don’t work for any particular brands so everything I have in my kit is there because I love it and know that it works.
